Development Review (SBDR)
The Opportunity
Woodford Heating and Energy are well-known mechanical and electrical contractors who were identified as one of the London Stock Exchange Group’s 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain in 2018.
Chapman Consulting has undertaken several large-scale projects for the company including SBDR and brand refresh. They appointed us in 2010 to help achieve their ambitious growth targets.

The Challenge
Extensive analysis carried out by Chapman Consulting as part of the SBDR identified the need for several key strategic projects. Central to these were development of corporate identity and how this was conveyed internally and externally. In addition to a brand refresh, clearer, more compelling vision and mission statements, and core values were required.
This would help to align and connect the board’s and the teams’ performance goals, and customer perception. These were developed through a series of in-person workshops involving key directors and members of the teams and eventually rolled out through internal and external communications, including the development of value iconography and implementation plans.
The Outcome
In the 5 years proceeding the SBDR we grew turnover from £9m to £40m, built their client base from previous 2 they relied heavily on to a more secure base.
We improved their image in the London market, raised their profile, developed ‘continuous improvement programme’ and initiated a HR strategy.
We also conceived “The Woodford Way”, a strategy for
continuous improvement across the whole
business, and still going strong in 2022.
