The Opportunity

KBS Electrical & Data Services Ltd. is a UK-based electrical contractor which delivers projects ranging from traditional electrical installation and security to data services, BMS and environmental systems. Established in 1961 the company works with clients across the construction, retail, industrial and commercial sectors.

Following a successful Strategic Business Development Review in 2019 Chapman Consulting was retained for a variety of business development and marketing project, one of which was the creation and management of content for KBS’ social media platforms. The most significant of these is considered to be LinkedIn.

The Challenge

As part of a wider strategy, Chapman Consulting recommended increasing KBS’ presence on social media with the goals of increasing brand awareness, supporting business development activity and driving increased user traffic to a new KBS website

Initially, it was recommended that KBS focus all their social media efforts on LinkedIn, as the most effective platform for their sector and services. A content strategy for the year was produced and Chapman Consulting also provided training for optimising and best practise in the use of personal profiles.

The Outcome

The approach was holistic and involved the creation and distribution of multi-channel campaigns (also including e-marketing and networking events).  The content comprised a variety of on-site case studies, staff updates, project updates and recruitment opportunities aimed at educating the market. KBS’ customers and prospects were targeted. These posts included a variety of still and animated posts to increase engagement on KBS’ page.

Monthly analytics reviews demonstrated a clear correlation between social media postings and increased traffic to the KBS website. As the campaigns matured, we saw improvements in all the key website metrics.  

Equally important, the campaigns helped to significantly increase KBS’ following on LinkedIn, as well as impressions and engagement.
